What neuroscience tells us about happiness
Ever wonder what truly makes us happy? Spoiler alert, it's not weight loss. Today's post features a hilarious blog post from Barking Up the Wrong Tree.
Eric Barker's article, "New neuroscience reveals 4 rituals that will make you happy", summarizes quite nicely the neuroscience research of Dr. Alex Korb, author of "The Upward Spiral".
If you don't have time to read the entire article, here is Eric Barker's summary:
Here’s what brain research says will make you happy:
- Ask “What am I grateful for?” No answers? Doesn’t matter. Just searching helps.
- Label those negative emotions. Give it a name and your brain isn’t so bothered by it.
- Decide. Go for “good enough” instead of “best decision ever made on Earth.”
- Hugs, hugs, hugs. Don’t text — touch.
Well there you have it! There is no mention of weight loss, living in a thinner body, or anything related to appearance. I hope you have enough time to read the article, and I hope you find something you are grateful for, can practice labeling what you're feeling, and that you decide you are good enough the way you are today. Hugs!
